For
Immediate Release
Robinson
and his band will celebrate the release of "Greetings
From the Roadhouse" at a live performance at 9 PM, June 11 at the
Roundup Saloon at "Greetings
from the Roadhouse"
is the former journalist's first full-length CD in almost exactly three
years. Recorded over two nights at Meyer Sound Hall at "I'm
really excited about his new CD," Robinson said. "Classic covers
are a big part of our sound and it’s great to get a chance to showcase
how we treat these songs from Jimi Hendrix, Muddy Waters, George Thorogood
and Chuck Berry. "I
think we've succeeded in staying true to the original impact of these
crowd favorites and yet put our own stamp on them. We also have live
versions of three of my originals. So, this disc is a pretty accurate
depiction of our live performances." A former
newspaper reporter and published author, Robinson burst on the Bay Area
music scene in June 2006 with the release of "Playing
in the Dark." Pioneering a distinctive Roadhouse Blues and Roots
Rock sound the disc featured clever lyrics and catchy original songs. Since
then, he has performed roughly 50 shows a year while maintaining his own
business as a free-lance writer and media relations consultant. On "Greetings From the Roadhouse," Robinson and his four-piece band
tear through three originals and nine classic covers, which are Hey Joe,
Bad to the Bone, Matchbox, House is a Rockin', Johnny B. Goode Fortunate
Son, Dust My Broom and Got My Mojo Workin.' Besides
Robinson on guitars and lead vocals, the disc features veteran performers
Rich Rogers, keyboards, vocals; Jay Kristensen, bass; Tom Hushmagosh,
drums, vocals. -- 30 --
